Is the Facility safe - Fire Alarms, exits etc?

Check for cleanliness.

Medical and immunization records are required.

Smoking is prohibited.

Can you be involved in the Program? You need to be able to have access to your child at all times! Is there an Open Door Policy?

Is there a schedule for each room? While older children need routine and a schedule, babies are growing so rapidly that they make their own schedule. The Infant areas should be flexible and follow the schedule of your baby.

Toys and equipment should be clean and there needs to be plenty of space available for play.

Make sure the Discipline philosophy is consistent with your personal philosophy.

Be aware of the services you are paying to be provided for your child. Are there extra costs? Normally activity fees are charged for special events.

Be Comfortable with your Choice - Be sure the facility is licensed.

Observe that Care Givers are involved.

Does the facility have a happy Environment? Is there a large outdoor space?

The best way to chose a child care facility is to observe the facility during operation.
